Morphology of graphene flakes in Ni-graphene nanocomposites and its influence on hardness: An atomistic study

The effect of graphene flakes on the strength Ni-graphene composites is investigated using molecular dynamics simulation. Rather than introducing as flat structures into Ni matrix, it common in available studies, we introduce them heated liquid and let equilibrate a 14-ns molecular-dynamics run; these are then quenched to obtain composites. By varying interaction flake edge atoms with two different morphologies – wrinkled vs obtained. mechanical properties, particular composite hardness, by simulated nanoindentation test. morphology affects plastic activity hardness Wrinkled show higher potential absorbing dislocations flakes, resulting considerably reduced composite. No changed between matrix dislocation could be observed. Furthermore, demonstrate that high content zone leads an increased absorption weakens
